Returning swimmers will swim 5:30 pm-7 pm
Our championship Newberry YMCA Swim Team, the EELS, has been in existence since 1991 when the Frank and Ann Smith Aquatic Facility was built. Over the years the team has grown from 15 swimmers to around 40 in our summer program. We are a year-round competitive swim team that impacts young lives by incorporating the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. We work with swimmers from age 5 to age 21 with varying degrees of ability. We pride ourselves in developing great swimmers who compete in state, regional, and national competitions. More Than that, we are most proud of the lives we have changed and the values that are learned in our program.
Fall/Winter Swim Team
Our winter season runs from the end of August through March. The practice is held after school. We have four different practice groups that meet at the same time. New swimmers will be in the RED group which practices at 5:30 pm each day. As a swimmer progresses they will move up to a different group.
Summer Swim Team 2017
Practice will begin for the summer season on April 17th!
Swim meets are held on Saturdays throughout the year. During the summer months, we will host some meets in Newberry. The summer season runs from the end of April through the month of July.
There are attendance requirements for swim meets in order to participate in our league championship at the end of each season. It is expected for every swim team member to participate in the league championship meet.
