WEIGHT ROOM

The weight room is restricted to ages 14 and up and has everything a person would need to get into shape and maintain their conditioning.  The weight machines are Cybex brand which are very easy to adjust to each individual.  The cardiovascular area has treadmills, exercise bikes, stair climbers, and elliptical gliders.  There is a free weight area to meet most everyone’s needs.  New members will be given an orientation to the equipment by scheduling an appointment at their convenience and one of the staff will be glad to assist them.

POOL

The pool is a 6 lane 25 yard pool with an adjacent teaching well . The pool is equipped with non-turbulent lane lines for competition and lap swimming. Starting blocks are used for competition and teaching. Pool depth ranges from 3 - 12 foot, normal water temperature in the winter is 84 degrees, summer temperatures depend upon nature. The building houses a men's and women's locker room for members use. Both locker rooms have lockers for day use, showers, changing rooms, and toilets. During the winter months a bubble is put over the pool, and the water is heated. Portable dressing rooms are located inside the bubble.

STEAM ROOM, SAUNA, WHIRLPOOL

Along with the weight room the YMCA also has a steam room, sauna, and whirlpool that members age 18 and up may use at their convenience. These amenities should be used with caution, members should check with their health care providers to be sure they are healthy enough to use them.  People with heart or blood pressure problems are more likely to experience adverse effects.  All three amenities will change one's blood pressure; steam room and sauna room will cause one to lose body fluids rapidly and they will need to be replaced.  Medical experts recommend that persons using these type of facilities do so no more than 5 minutes at a time.  Should you at any time feel light headed or faint you should exit and sit down for 2 minutes before doing anything else
