The Newberry YMCA Aquatic Center opened in June of 1992. At this time the Newberry YMCA Swim Team was formed and has become a source of pride for the YMCA and the community. The Aquatic Center was later renamed "The Ann & Frank Smith Aquatic Center". Ann and Frank Smith were avid supporters of the Newberry YMCA, and the Newberry YMCA Swim Team.
